Following my worry about nerves the other day, I took my horse to a local show today. When we got there I discovered the warm up had been flooded so you had to jump the first jump as your warm up - not ideal for a horse that hasn't been out for a year and can be a bit quirky. But having got there I decided to give it a go.
Once I was on my nerves almost disappeared and I should never have doubted him - he was a complete star. Despite the lack of warm up he jumped 2 double clears and we came second in both our classes - 2'6 and 2'9. The rosettes were nice, but what has really thrilled me is how well he went and how well he behaved. He got a little strong at times, but mainly I think because he found it too easy but gave me a great feeling all the way round. I even think I rode quite respectably for a change.
Now I remember why we put ourselves through all the worry and feeling sick!
Sorry - very self indulgent and well done if you've made it this far!
