So my boy hasn't been ridden for a week and a half now. Since he has lost some excess weight, the saddle has started to slip so I've not been able to school. We managed a hack, but the roads have been busy since and as great as he is at hacking, I am not the most confident with single lanes, coaches, lorries and tractors so tend not to risk it.

My mums youngster usually has the entire paddock to run around in when we go to the school, as it stops her calling out for my boy when we leave the field. However the gardener has cut the paddock so she will have to stress in the her field.

I've been up all night listening to the rain, had a nightmare that the youngster got loose and ate all the grass cuttings. My boy was too on his toes to ride and I ended up buying a saddle at over £1000 that doesn't fit.

I think I shall give him a magic calmer, he may not need it but it might help my ridiculous mood today. I can't say this dull weather is too nice either.

Anyway just thought I'd share a good moan and fingers crossed that the weather picks up.

I have one naughty horse who I dose up on magic calmers and my other one who is an angel, always gets one before a competition. Sadly, it is more a placebo effect on myself than the horse as she is a natural angel. But good luck for today, the weather has stopped raining

Native Pony, traditional working hunter. I should have got more of a GP really but can't handle anything too forwards cut. No idea why, but I always feel happier in a dressage or working hunter :)

Feel happier now I can tick a saddle of the ‘horse needs’ list. Maybe buy myself something for once next? That’s if new horse requirements don’t build back up on that list !!!

Glad it went OK :-) when it is really wet we have to do things like that on a bit of tarmac outside the field which is a public footpath, my girl gets a bit stressed about that! My saddler actually doesn't ask you to ride in the saddle unless you want to which is a bit unorthodox but was quite glad of it that day!

So did you manage to get it for under 1000 or did the nightmare almost come true? ;-)

Well luckily under but only thanks to part exchanging one in  !!

I had visions of having to buy one and not being able to try it. But luckily as scared of everything the pony was, he tried his hardest. He would hardly move in the second hand one we first tried though. He is obviously too cool for a cheaper price tag  Bad pony!!
