Hey everyone
Me & my Mum have decided to put my 17hh 5yo ISH & "our" (LOL) 14.1hh 12yo Welsh cross in the same field again later after being apart since the little lady came down with lami in Aug 2012 & I'm feeling a combination of nervous & very very excited!
Little lady had 2 months' box rest on a crash diet (full stable of shavings, fed straw, hay soaked for 24 hours, HiFi Lite & Biotin & general purpose supplements), had heartbar shoes on & was allowed turnout on starvation paddocks in Oct 2012. She's gone through winter having a strict diet (as has long legs) & has been meticulously strip-grazed since we started 24/7 turnout this year to see how she responded to the grass.
I have to say, despite the devastation & guilt I felt when she came down with lami, I'm quite proud with how healthy she looks now :')
Anyway, we've decided to put them both in together tonight in a larger field, with more fresh grass - BUT - it's well-grown, older grass with less sugar in (as explained by the farrier, vet & backed up by my online research) & short stuff will be having a grazing muzzle on. Me & Mum are hoping they will both be much happier this way & are very excited that they'll enjoy it more & also that managing the fields will be a little easier on us, as it's been quite demanding organisationally.
Just wanted to put a post out there about finally moving on from the stress & worry of lami a little, now she's able to be worked enough again to help keep the weight off & is looking much better.
Also hoping for some good vibes that she doesn't get the better of the muzzle or start arguing with her "sister"
Big box of choccies for all who stuck with this one
