Argh, I am falling apart here!

Doing my BH (German equivalent to Companion Dog) test tomorrow and I am bricking it.

I know this isn't a very competitive attitude, but your vibes tomorrow morning would be much appreciated and I will reward you by posting pictures (of my epic FAIL

) and of some proper dog sport which will be taking place over the weekend at our club.

To be honest I won't be devastated if we don't pass, this time last year I never thought he would ever be good with other dogs, would ever walk to heel, would ever be allowed off the lead or be safe around traffic and bikes, all of which he now is.

Bless him, he tries his best, if we fail it will be down to me, not him, but a pass would be the cherry on the cake!

And in the absence of vibes, please pass the valium

and thanks for reading (had three massive coffees this afternoon, hopefully that will explain this post.....)

Deep breaths, happy thoughts, stiffen that upper lip, keep calm and carry on!

Says she who spends entire nights on the loo at the thought of a prelim stressage test

I was thinking of getting some gaffer tape, to keep my hands at my sides and my mouth shut, I can't manage to get through the whole routine without unconsiously talking to him or giving hand signals, argh!!!

How on earth are you meant to get him to do anything without talking or handsignalling? Am I missing something? Is this a telepathy test?

.....hands CC some Rescue Remedy, Kalms, and strong alcohol.....

There there, you will be fine - best of luck, stay calm, and it will be fun

You can only give commands at certain times and no talking in between times, like 'heel' (50 steps) then turn, then change pace with a 'heel' each time you start a change of pace (fast, sloooow, back to normal pace) and then he must automatically sit when I stop - no commands or corrections in between times.

Hand signals count as 'handler help' - my bad habit is clicking my fingers to keep him interested if he lags behind me in heelwork.

Pockets are also searched for balls, food etc

How very teutonic

Think of it this way, no matter what happens you will still have done a hundred time better than Henry and I would!

You are right han, all the schutzhund stuff is pretty teutonic, all heelwork to a rigid pattern etc.
CC, you and Bodo will be fine I am sure, but sending loads of vibes for you for the BH and the rest of the weekend. Looking forward to the pictures.

Does valerian work on humans? I bought some for Bella....

Valerian tea knocks me flat, it's about the only thing that helps when I'm having an insomniac moment!

MM, it all sounds far too scary for me

Thanks B

I really appreciate the vibes, OH's uber-religious mum is on the hotline to the patron saint of dogs as we speak
tongue.gif

I can't go any further with him anyway (Not even SchI as he doesn't 'do' bitework or retrieving
tongue.gif
) but it would be nice if we could pass.

So Valerian it is then, and I have found something called 'Natracalm' in the cupboard so will neck some of that too and hope I don't sleep in

So long as you know you're taking the best dog home with you that's all that matters - is what my trainer told me when she was trying (and failing!) to get me and Henry to give companion dog obedience a go!

Holland and Barratt, I seem to remember!

You also need a tupperware box for it, it is rather fragrant and will make everything in your cupboards taste of valerian if you don't seal it up...

Aw, thanks for the offer, but there will be plenty of people (Schutzhund I and II is happening tomorrow as well) to point and laugh at us

Mumsie will be there too, just to put us off

Passes CC some of my valium stash
