As title really. Any nervous/unconfident riders out there - do you ever wonder why you bother to ride if you are really nervous or dread riding? Just curious to know thoughts and opinions. Thanks :)

yep! After the third trip to a &e i gave up. I spent ages doing ground work and solving tacking up issues , then a good while lunging and eventually got back on. It made a world of difference to me as i got to know my horse better. I am a happy hacker and for the most part feel pretty confident in him now.. thanks to a bit of patience (the ground work took the pressure off and i think we both began to enjoy each others company a bit more) The other thing that helped was an australian stock saddle, once he realised i was glued to him he stopped bucking!

I used to wonder why, when I was hyperventilating before getting on a horse :D. Now I know why - confidence has returned because we took it slow and steady and I had plenty of help to get more confident, and I now LOVE riding! I love nothing more than going for a crazy hoon around the countryside with very little brakes!!
