So for those who offered kind advice in my last post a month or so ago....
I've had him on the RelaxMe calmer for over a month now and i cannot get over the difference in him!!!!!
He is so happy!
Scenario 1 which makes me think its working:
Come back from a hack with his stable mate and he goes straight to the fields as he doesne have a rug. R stands as quiet as a mouse waiting for me to put his rug on (normally he would have been rearing on the end of the lead rope tied up as he cannot abide being left on his own while the others go out) Que giving him 2 carrots and a lot of patting! he looked at me like i was mad and wondered what all the fuss was about.
Scenario 2:
Took them in the horse box to the local forest for a nice long hack.
Rounded a corner to face a dog breeder out with what appeared to be over 15 small dogs with no leads and barking like crazy and running at us. We dismounted and walked infront of the horses with out whips shooing them away. Both horses remained calm (despite riders having heart failure and one dog being stepped on!)
Even after the scary dogs he remained calm - he would normally "bounce" for the whole remainder of the hack and i would wish i hadnt of eaten that banana before i got on!
Scenario 3:
First jumping lesson in the school after a whole winter off jumping! VERY VERY over excited and i was glad i had the pelam in (although i no longer need the flash nose band it seems) but we did canter-jump-canter away and come straight back to trot and then walk before cantering on to the next jump,,,, all under control and he even did a lovely cool down in walk at the end on a loose rein! that has NEVER happened before.
His whole attitude has changes, his body language and even his paces have become more fluid and relaxed - he is no longer a coiled spring that explodes constantly.
I am so happy!! and I cant thank everyone who offered their advice enough as i would have never had thought a calmer would have made such a difference.
