neue schule and sprenger bits snapping?

I was just about to buy a neue schule bit when I was warned by my trainee that they were known to snap?!!

Looking at old posts on here I can see this happenes a while ago.

Does anyone know if this is still a real risk?

There was also mention in an old post about a sprenger bit breaking.

Does anyone know anything about this?

Hi I've brought 2 neue Schule bits, the Waterford and verbindend, over 3 years ago and they're still going strong with no signs of weakness. A few of my friends have them too, and they haven't had any problems with theirs either.

Yes definitely, I won't have anything else. My horse has a really soft mouth and really sucks on this bit bless him.

Fingers crossed & touching all wood I can!! - I have 3 NS bits and not had an issue with any of them so far x

We've had neue schule bits for years & never had any issues with them.

these days they are the only bits i use - and ive never had an issue with them

I've got three NS bits and never had a problem with them snapping - and my ISH pulls like a train sometimes in his Universal Gag!

Both mine in NS bits for last 4 years and no complaints! Like previous post, wouldn't use anything else

I have used these for years and have never had any issue neither have I ever heard of it happening.

I think I have heard of issues with the NS bits on here.. and some have stated they will only use sprenger because of this.

I had an issue with a NS pelham. Shanks completely bent and started to shear off mouthpiece. Contacted NS who never got back to me. I also know someone else who had one completely snap whilst schooling. I would never use again.
