What are peoples experiences with these bits. I have a neue schule loose ring verbindend to try on the mare I share, who has been ridden in a Pelham for years! Would you recommend or not?

All of mine have got on well with them. I have a starter bit for the youngster, who hated anything thick, rubber, or happy-mouth esque, a team-up for my ex-comp mare, who used to go beautifully affiliated dressage in it, and even the older mare, who head-shook violently in every other type of snaffle I tried and would *only* go relaxed and quietly in her pelham has taken to the one you've got to try. It's worth a shot!

I also really like them, and have a thin loose ring snaffle for my boy, which we use for everything except XC or a fast / busy hack, in which case I have an NS Wilkie. He seems to go well in both. You can get them for what seems like an ok price on Ebay (say £50) - less than similar KK bits, and I think they are better.

I love them, my mare used to go really well in it, she couldn't lean and really softened with that style, on the other hand my boy just doesn't suit it, but we have worked out that he suits straight bars, it's really a lovely bit if its suited to the horses mouth but sadly I'm selling mine as it's now redundant.

I like mine because the mare has a very thick tongue and fleshy lips and needs a 61/2" bit. She wears a NS Universal, rather than the Dutch gag she brought with her, I could choose the thickness of the bit for her. She seems to like it too.

The only way to find out if it suits your horse is to try it.

Sounds like its worth a try then. I've hear about a few of them snapping whilst on the horse due to the softer metal?

I'm really pleased with how my ID mare goes in a Verbidend. She no longer gets her tongue over the bit and she used to be quite heavy in the hand but she now works forward into the contact really nicely. I used to hack in a 2 ring gag or Pelham but now school and hack in the Verbidend.

I had heard this too, and for this very reason had reservations, but mine has been fine. I think there was a thread about it in competition forum a year or two ago

My NS Pelham snapped last year, not through the mouthpiece either which is made of softer metal, but through the stainless steel ring where the rein attaches and the shank. Sheared clean through and could have caused a nasty accident.

I use a NS Verbindend and my mare really likes it. She prefers thin bits to thick ones. She also hates anything with a single joint. I have loaned my NS pelham to my neighbour and she and the horse love it.

I bought a ns about a year ago.can't remember which it is but my mare gets a better consistent outline in it than she does with a similar standard loose ring sniffle. Well worth £50.
