I'm trying to buy some bits to trial Alfie in a double - this is in conjunction with my dressage instructor who is fully supportive of the move although the purpose is for showing. He is currently in a Myler low port Pelham for showing and the same mouthpiece in an eggbutt for dressage.
The challenge is he's BIG so I'm struggling to find bits big enough although neue schule seem to do a few. His mylers are 5.5" (would be a 6" in normal bits) but they aren't roomy, ideally I'd like another 1/4" at least on them. I'm looking at the slimma Weymouth but the bradoons are a bit of a mystery to me! They're are lots of double jointed bits but I can't figure which ones offer maximum tongue relief! There's the Tranz angled, verbindend and the team up in 6.25" and 6.5" so opinions and knowledge on these greatly welcomed!

Hey Abbijay - I met you on Sunday :)

I rate the Warmblood mouthpiece for the Weymouth part with the transangled loose ring (seems to be a thinner mouthpiece than some of their other snaffles), however, that said I've had to put Nugz in the warmblood show Pelham as by giving him room in his mouth he's learnt to tongue twist, but is settled in the show Pelham.

Would definitely give NS call - I probably should've done this in the first place! I have a feeling I still have the loose ring in my tack box and I think might actually be big enough for you (nugz has a bigger head/mouth than he should for a 14.3!) if you want me to check?

Hi Nugz' Mum! Always nice to put faces to user names! I love your boy, he looked brilliant! If you do have the bradoon in the tack box and fancy selling or loaning it out would you pm me?

I didn't realise NS had their own advice line; I have spoken to 2 bit banks already but one just gave me a generic "I recommended this for a Clydesdale before" and the other had some fab suggestions but they're not in a big enough size (the bombers/trust bits looked ideal but too small). I think I'll ring them on my dinner break!
