neue schule starter bit

Im looking to get one of these for my youngster, he is in a 5in straight bar happy mouth just now, ive heard the neue schules come up a bit small so what size do you think I should get him? thanks

I've used this for breaking a horse and now I use it on my more experienced boy and both horses seemed to like it and go well in it. However, I can't find a horse that doesn't get rubbed by it but this is easily solved by using those rubber bit guard things (which means you might want to get it a tad bigger then normal). I can't say I've ever found a NS to come up small. If you go to http://www.thehorsebitshop.co.uk/ you can rent the bits for a month, that way you can see if you horse likes it and if it fits.

I find it true to size and don't remember a rubbing problem.

I used one on both my horses they went ok in it, but found they both prefer straight bits no joint so I went back to what I was using and sold them, I use a straight bar happy mouth on my mare and a cambridge snaffle on my gelding much cheaper to buy than the NS bits.

My verbindend definitely came up small, I don't know if it's true of other bits in the NS range.
