Please can somebody help??? I've been recommend these two bits for my horse that is currently in a ns universal trans angle (which is too much bit for him, too much poll pressure I think, also chomping a lot and nosing out) so I would like to go back to a loose check snaffle. And get him happy. He is a warmblood with a fleshy tongue. 13yrs old. Done lots of schooling in the past. But not done much apart from hacking the last 3years. He does lean on my hands and is a little on the forehand. I've only had him since July and haven't felt he has gone well in the thick single jointed dutch gag that he came with or the 14 mm ns universal. What is the difference between theses bits? I get very confused with bitting. Please help :-)

I think the team up is gentler than the verbindend. My lad has a fleshy mouth and thick tongue and can lean and goes great in the 12mm verbindend. But if you go to horse bit hire website and talk to Gail she is very helpful and I think also does a video bit fitting check option.

I had trouble getting a dressage legal bit my boy was happy with and to be honest it's just a case of trial and error. He's happy as anything in a waterford but I found getting a snaffle he like really difficult. He has a huge tongue and very big lips so any loose ring pinched and anything jointed hurt. I think the waterford is good for him as it moulds to the shape of tongue because it's so fluid.

He now has a 12ml mullen mouth hanging cheek myler, it's not ideal for his way of going but it's the only thing he doesn't have a fit about! It took about a year of trying different bits to find it though.
