Have been riding my 4 yo for about 1 week now (he was backed last year and turned away) but I am not happy with his acceptance of the bit. He is in a stainless steel lozenge type bit with full cheeks at the moment but seems to have a very sensitive mouth and will draw back from the bit. When he takes the bit he is lovely but he doesn't seem happy to do so. Been reading about this bit and that blurb says it would do just what i want so has anyone used it and does it do what it says on the tin?

Any other suggestions would also be great

I know it is early days but he is so nice i really want him right, from the start. I'm a big believer in trying to stop any problems before they really start.

Give Heather at Neue Schule a call. She is really nice, very knowledgeable and surprisingly wont try to sell you something just for the sake of it.

She can explain how certain bits work and why your horse might not like taking the bit and what might be good to try.

Thanks, i tried ringing today but it was engaged, then i got busy, then i was back at work, then it was too late!!! must try harder tomorrow!!

I have used one on my 5yr old for about a year and he seems to prefer it to the happy mouth fulmer he was in when first backed, he makes a nice mouth in it and takes a contact without any fuss.
