They've been in at night a week now, after they decided to trash through post and rail fencing and take themselves in! Little bu**ars!
Constantly bombing about in field! Last night, took me half an hour to catch them! They'd come up to gate wanting to come in and then squeal, and tank off bucking!!
I don't mind a sharp horse to ride but when they're both working each other up and not being reasonable at all or bothered by me getting knocked, I begin to think why...!! Especially when they're both big boys! The idx is 740kgs and the tb 550kg (old fashioned NH type!).
May have to up the ridden work,
although the other one is arthritic and has locking stifles and supposedly a companion!!
Rant over!! Just wondering if anyone else is going through the same currently!!

My friends mare is currently being very similar!! Jumping both fences and hedges in her fields and then winding all the other horses as with her pratting around and squeeling!!

Mine were exactly the same Friday! my old mare was cavorting about the place bucking, squealing and farting about setting off my youngster to do exactly the same!

First year wintering them both out :D

My 3 laid back lazy cobs are being the same! And they're on starvation grazing, been galloping up and down the field like racehorses. Atleast they're losing weight

Mine were acting like idiots and behaving very badly one evening last week - tough, I was not going to follow them whilst they cavorted around the field so they were left out.
Guess what? They were waiting at the gate the next morning.

More work and less feed.

My pony is being a numpty at the moment too. He's not too bad out in his field, but is more difficult to ride.

My TB who broke his leg last year has rediscovered how to gallop in his field (we have 2 horses out on around 20 acres in their winter field - they are in pony heaven!!)

Our feed hasn't changed at all, but they do have lots of grass in a field that was cut for hay so is lush!

Yeah maxapple, my two have just been moved into winter paddock which has been rested and was fertilised in the spring! Only 2.5 acres though, no where near as big as yours! They must be loving it!!

They're both generally very sharp horses but I do think it's a combination of feed, new field, being in at night now and the weather!! Wish I could work them harder but having a baby in tow, 9 hrs turnout a day is the best I can do at the moment!! Also doesn't help that they're out shooting around us!!
