Ive always had female dogs.

Ive had both male and female cats.
Obviously with females they literally do a histerectomy.
With our male cats they took the whole testicles away.

Deefa our collie is the first male dog we have had.
He was neutured last week, but he still has his "bits"!
Is this a new thing or dont they take them away in dogs but do a similar thing to what they do in human men and just cut the "pipes"?

I always thought you could tell a neutured and unneutured male dog because of lack of "bits" was i just not seeing them?

They take the insides put but leave the sack. When H was first done they swelled and didn't look it, but after a week started shrinking. He was nearly 3 and fairly well endowed ;) so the skin has taken a while to shrink back and for a while looked totally ridiculous!!!! But 4 months on you can barely see it. :)

:D
The area swells somewhat after surgery and sometimes fluid can build up they do still looked endowed when indeed they are not:p they will go flat like deflated ballons and shrink to nothingness in time:)

Oh. That's what it must be.
He did have complications after the op.
He had a bleed and had to wear a huge nappy to stop the skin stretching and hold it all up!

Hes a collie and 15 months old.

Are you referring to the glands at the base of his sheath that can appear? It looks like he still has his balls! Otherwise check his sack's not cold and swollen which could mean a sign of an infection and loss of blood supply as it's not healing properly. When they castrate dogs they remove the tesicles and they're usually left with a flap of skin that shrinks so it's obvious if a dog is entire or neutered.
