I thought I would share my not so fun experience.......

Never been hunting before and only agreed to it cos a drag hunt and didnt agree as such but more pushed into it by owner of horse loaning. Had only ridden said horse twice in sand school but was assured she was an "armchair" and would take you into all jumps etc etc so I didnt sleep the night before and off I went the next day terrified - I have never jumped big or done much xc either I should add but was told I could go round the jumps and be a very easy day as kids coming too.....

Horse was ready to explode cantering on spot and bombing through redcoats much to their disgust and while she was a brave girl going through water up to her tummy with waves etc she did not want to jump at all refusing most things and once ditching me into a drain infront of very amused men including her owner. We then had to deal with escaped cattle charging at us and awful terrain that caused a few horses to get cuts and one went home cos lame and I just wanted to go home cos now raining and fed up and wasnt enjoying it at all lol. Some of us pretended to get seperated from redcoats and found some nice rustic man made jumps that she flew over then headed back to the yard for soup.

In her defence I found out when loaned her a while that she had a bad back hence her erratic behaviour and refusing etc but I will never ever hunt again as not for me and I am too scaredy cat! The only reason I survived was a fag and whiskey behind a tree!

Bless you at least you gave it a try and could say from experience that you didn't like it.... too scared to even give it a go myself....

sorry to hear you didnt enjoy your day hunting. I had my first day on the last meet of this season and I can honestly say I have never met more welcoming and friendly people. From helping me get on a horse I had never even seen to drying me off and warming me up with a cuppa tea out of the waggon when we got back. I am now hooked and cant wait for winter!!
I would advise you to give it another go if its something you would like to do its amazing! All the best for you and your loan horse.
