Just wondered how common this is - my horse will never eat a full haynet over night (huge holes in net).
I stick in at present 3 slices and he only eats about a 1/3 i have never known him to finish ever when in at night, I have started adding some hayledge to see if this helps... and nope still only eats a 1/3 and yes leaving some yummy hayledge too .

he is in good con and eats his feed and im guessing grass as he hasn't lost weight, and teeth checked in march does it just mean he is content??? he is the first horse i have owned/known to not eat everything in sight.

when i first got him early in the year i just thought it was the change in hay/location etc.. but then summer came so was out, so only now i thought i would see what others eating habbits are.

i did think about that but i didnt want to look like a mean mum, or that i cant care for him right. but i may try it in the next few days.

If he's in good flesh, then I'd say you are feeding him more than he requires (this means too much, BTW!). What size/height/type is he?

I'd reduce the amount your giving him. Tbh we still have lots of good grass, so the horses are still eating alot when they are out and simply not that interested in their night time haynets.
