Well i posted last year about a dog attacking Tessy whilst my younger sister was riding and it resulted in her falling off and ending up in A+E for 5 hours, suspected broken hip bone that luckily was just very bad bruising and she was allowed to go home, couldn’t walk for about 2 weeks and it's still sore now.

The mental scars ran very deep with my sister she was terrified to hack, terrified of meeting dogs and didn't ride for about 5 months. Until this weekend when she put her brave pants on and did half a hack round the golf course with me. After a shaking start, a few tears and shouting for me to hold her on the saddle :o she relaxed, Tess turned to the side and rubber her lips on her shoe as if to say it's fine i will look after you :) Well we originally were going to plod, nice and quiet on the lead rope, it ended in being let off the lead rope, trotting and cantering along a field :D:D returning home with a huge grin and a new outlook on her riding life.

It was today though that Jenna finally broke through her fear barrier at the sand school. In the pouring rain and me shivering like a sh****ng dog i gave her a lesson. During this lesson she did a lovely extended trot, transitions, trotting poles and the final challenge... her first ever jump on Tess. At the riding school she hopped a cross pole so she has done jumping before but nothing huge so i placed a teenie jump up and after nearly getting off and crying she went for it... resulting in me crying as she got over it hugging Tess and proud of herself.

I guess this is just to say to those who have had a confidence knock and feel like giving up don't worry it may take time and a lot of trust in your horse but it will come back. Look ahead not behind you <3

Lovely to read - onwards and upwards for your sister now!
Thanks for sharing :)

i have see quite a few confidence issue threads and thought i would shed some light, its difficult with confidence. Oh defo, she is loving being back in the saddle :D even in the pooring rain

Thank you :) Before reading this thread I was just thinking to myself whether I'd ever have the nerve to get back on my horse. Having seen this and other success stories maybe it's possible..maybe :)

Oh you are welcome lovely :) My sister said to tell you :

It will come in time, the biggest step for me was choosing to get onto the horse rather than having people force me on. The face it was my decision made it an achievement. Dont give up hope.

Thank you to both you and your sister :)

Lovely - just makes me :D :D :D

I hacked our big boy out solo today for the first time in about two years after a couple of nasty falls knocked my ridden confidence with him. We were both stars and made it all the way without a hitch :D
