Hi I'm looking at getting a trailer again. I used to have the 505 and was very happy with it. For those with the 506 how does it compare? Are they as robust as the previous model? Thanks 😀

I really like mine. We always had a 510 when I was growing up and my mum went to view the 506 with me and thinks they're much better than the old one. Which is high praise indeed if you know her, hehe. The 506 is perfect for me, both the 506 and 511 models have the same internal height (226cm) whereas the 505 and 510 had a big height difference and you couldn't fit a compact but tall horse in. The stall width per horse is 6cm wider in the 511. The stall length in the 511 can go 19cm longer. I went for the 506 as it was cheaper and I didn't need the length or width. My boy has plenty of both length and width in the 506 and I never intend to buy a larger horse (he's 16'1) . I've travelled in him there with a saddle on too and that's also been fine.

As added extras I got sliding hay net rails, slinging windows and the wheel mud guards. The sliding hay net rails are surprisingly useful, as are the sliding windows. Also they have a reversing light which, I think, legally all new build towing vehicles have to have. This is really useful for me and I am usually parking it up at night. I actually prefer the new door locks to old ones are they're easier to handle with cold fingers. The large window in the front is great and I can see the hay net moving (or him if he's travelling sans hay net) and it's quite reassuring to be able to view in with the rear view mirror.

Overall I really like mine and haven't had any problems with it at all.

After buying a 505 new 10 years ago I was very much thinking the new ones looked "plastic" and not as strong as the original. My lovely hubby said he would pay the extra towards either the new 506 or 511 for my birthday, I chose the 506, just as marmalade said they have the same headroom as the old 510 without the width of the 511. I love my 506 now, they are a lot more spacious/light and airy in the front, the sliding windows and the large front window are great. They also have a new suspension system, I really feel this gives the horses a much better ride.

Don't have one myself, but three friends of mine upgraded to them. All three had trouble with the ramps. On one occasion, the front ramp came off on one side. Quite dangerous really. For the other two the back ramp kept bending and was very awkward to shut. They seem to be losing popularity here. I'll be getting the 505!
