New arena- how long before you ride on it?

We have recently had our arena finished, I have ridden on it once so far however it was really deep. Will this improve once it has bedded down more?

I assume it's silica sand? Yes it will but it takes time and depends a bit on the weather too. I assume you had it rolled as the surface was going down? Just keep rolling especially when it has rained. I think ours took at least 3 weeks before I could ride on it but it may have been closer to 5. I remember worrying it would never come right as you hear some horror stories about wrong size silica sand etc but it got there eventually. Good luck - it's frustrating having to wait when all you want to do is go out and play I know!

You need to wait until it has had a real downpour of rain or steady rain for a few days, it should settle then but you really need to avoid riding on it until it has had the rain otherwise you risk going through the surface and damaging the membrane underneath.
