The new tests for 2008 are as follows:

New tests in use from 1st January 2008:

Introductory A (short arena)
Prelim 15 (long arena)
Prelim 19 (long arena) - replaces Prelim 16
Novice 28 (short arena) - replaces Novice 21
Elementary 42 (short arena) - replaces Elementary 41
Advanced Medium 84 (short arena)

Tests being withdrawn on 1 January 2008:

Prelim 16
Novice 21
Elementary 41
Advanced Medium 83

I cant believe they are changing N21, i love that test!!!

I cant believe there ditching 21, I must have done that test 15 times this year! And I cant believe they ditched 16, I finally dont have to do the bloody thing and they get rid of it!
 
Hmmm - I'm rather against walk and trot tests but I know lots of people like them... I wonder if they'll start running them at aff comps or if its just for standardisation?
 
Am I the only one that can't stand nov 21.....!!! Yippee for me that they are (hopefully) changing it!!
But I do love Elem 41...... so that's a bit of a pain!
And I'm not sure I'll worry about the Ad Med just yet!!

Oh good I don't feel left out now, I also dont' like N21. They've REALLY brought in a walk and trot test??? Surely if you are riding at affiliated level you should be able to canter?
 
It is a bit strange... because for Prelim they don't have to be registered and just have their Prelim ID... so where the W/T going to come in, I wonder if venue's will just run it as an unaff class before the others start.... (if they'll run it at all)
 
I'm fed up with them changing tests all the time and having to pay every year to update my folder. they just want your money. ( or am I just in a bad mood this morning).
 
am i the only one who hates N21 and is fed up of watching people ride those half 15m circles far too early and asking horses to come back to the track at an impossible angle? it's not got enough marks in it - bring on tests like N36 and N38 anyday for me!
 
They are not ditching N21 and E41, they have a couple of changes to them and are coming back as N28 and E42 so we only have a couple of bit to remember not whole tests!!
 
Eek! I find it really hard when they do that - I always want to carry on and do the old version

I cant tell what they've changed in Novice 21 they still have 3 loop serpentines on both rains - canter circle then half circle back to the t4rack and one medium trot !!!
 
The final movement is walk down the center line to X and halt salute instead of the old trot at D and halt at G

Looks like a couple of judging differences as well as in the test rides the same but marks are in different places, not got my sheets with me so I can't compare to the old 21

Please what is the point in taht ?????
 
I don't kknow, only thing I can think of is that it gives another walk movement as the walk is not really given that much emphasis in the old test, and the devil in me says how many people have horses that can truely walk in a straight line especially towards the judge!
