New boots (a rant)

My ariat short boots have just died… they are 4 years old and in the grand scheme of things that have served me well but I have been wearing them this week because

a) it’s hot
And
B) the zip on my long boots has gone. (I had generally been nursing them along for 6 months but with new boy I’m riding much more…

I HATE NEW BOOTS.

I now have to suffer new long boots and new short boots at the same time . I have funny shaped feet so boots never fit properly and they take ages to become not instruments of torture and now I have no comfy boots to fall back on.

I am lucky that I can afford to just go out and buy what I want new but what I want is my old boots not to be dead..

My Ariat short zip boots are over 20 years old. I first wore them in Jan 2003. True I ride only once or twice a week, but OH polishes them regularly and they are good as new.

I took mine to a local shop and had new zips put on for £15 a zip - totally worth it to not have to break new boots.

I’ve had mine 26 years now, ride most days, very tatty and zips gone but they keep my feet nice and cool, don’t gape with half chaps on. I don’t like new boots either!
