Rode in my new Konigs yesterday for the first time. Oh My God. By the time I got off the first horse my knees were raw, almost bleeding. These boots fit me perfectly, but they are super stiff and very high cut. I had to put my stirrups down a hole (and I ride long anyway), and found rising trot almost impossible.

Is it like childbirth? Have I just forgotten how bloody painful it is to break new stiff boots in? Or are these destined to be the torture boots from hell???

I don't think any new boots should be uncomfortable to ride in, certainly not rubbing you to the point of nearly bleeding.

My boots are made by Schneider. The only problem with them when they were new, was getting them on, which was a real struggle. Once they were on, I could have ridden in them all day long.

Haha you poor thing, don't worry mine were exactly the same! I had actual cuts on both my legs! But I promise you they do actually wear in v quickly and then fit like a glove. But I feel for you, I remember the agony of those first few days!

No, in comparison childbirth is over relatively quickly (so I've been told) and I imagine that you don't look HALF as good whilst doing that

I am feeling your pain!

When I got mine last year it took several weeks of gritting my teeth and breath holding - people told me it would be worth it and I likened it to tunning the London marathon!

Try loads of jump seat and really wedge your heels down! Ensure you have someone to take yur horse from you so you can collapse and remove offending items immediately!

I looked like Mark beat me as the backs of my legs were literally black and blue!!!!

Whatever you do though don't lose or put on weight after buying Konigs.
I sent mine back to be re-sized a bit smaller in May my Konigs had gone like wellies & i havent seen them since.

Your post just reminded me to phone the shop up to find out if i will ever get them back. Apparently they will apear in the next 2 weeks. One hell of a bad service though by Konigs.

I had to buy new boots to go to regionals.

Now i will also have to go through the pain again & pay for the re-sizing.

I did this when out hacking and it defo helped - although immediately after I got off I felt as though my legs were about to snap hehe. Oh the joys of new boots! Just think how good you'll look though with your shiny new Konigs!

I have Cavallo competition boots and they were no where near as painful to break in as these (Komets). But I love them! Just waiting for the matching spur straps to come in.

I've heard a few stories about bad service from Konigs, I'm afraid. I just hope I don't have to send mine to them.

I know the amount they cost as well, but they do look good!!

I replaced mine with Sarm 1600 while ive been waiting & i actually really like them will be hard changing back to the Konigs now! Funnily i had to break the Sarms in the 1600 are a hard leather but where much easier than the Konigs.

Good luck with your's & i hope they don't cause lasting damage lol. It will be all over soon & worth it

Mine were the same - but they are worth it in the long run!

I presume they have only rubbed under your knees. As they settle and work in, they drop slightly so you need the extra leg length (which is why they are rubbing now).

I think you are very brave wearing them for the first time at a show - I would break them in first by using them round the house!

Sticking plaster on the bend in the back of your knees. That elastoplast fabric dressing strip is best as can cut off the right sized bit. It will make all the difference for the first couple of weeks. Good luck - bet they look gorgeous. Any pics.

I hope you're happy with your 1600s. I've just bought a pair and am yet to wear them (roll on Saturday!). They look stunning. I'm hoping they're going to be decent boots as they've nearly bankrupted me (again...)

I had a lesson in the Konigs last night and they felt a LOT better. I am starting to feel how fantastic they will be when I break them in. I have bruises on the backs of my knees but the skin isn't broken and the boots are definitely dropping. Now I love them again! My bank account doesn't though LOL
