I've had the mark todd winter boots for about a year, and they were all split so I went out and bought short boots and chaps, as soon as I got on, I felt like my leg position was better, I could feel more through my chaps then through the long boots.
However, I kept losing my stirrups with them on, does anyone else find that? I think I'm going to do a load of no stirrup work to try and get my weight down more, see if that helps

I got some MT long leather boots recently and I actually much prefer them to short boots and chaps... they have done wonders for my leg stability and I wouldn't ride in anything else now.

Do you use flexi-stirrups or fixed? I found that flexi-stirrups made a heck of a lot of difference to my foot stability - and my ankles and knees ache less too (unfortunately, I'm no spring chicken any more

Would deffo recommend the flexi-stirrups.... can you borrow some and try before you buy? If I'm honest, the difference is subtle and I didn't really feel the it until I rode someone else's horse in normal rigid stirrups but I would never go back to "normal" ones now.

(PS I've just noticed your siggy - MY horse is called Roo too! His racing name is Ruby Gate

Thing that bothers me with flexi-stirrups is that I worry about getting my foot trapped, I rode someone elses horse in normal iron stirrups and was anxious that my foot could get stuck.
I may try them though, I know nothing about stirrups, could you tell me what the point is for flexi stirrups, what do they do?
Roo is a more popular name than I thought, what is your Roo like?
