Following on from my little FM panic attack, here are some pics of my new boy who is coming on Sat :D (they are his advert pics)

Only thing I would say, is to have an extremely good farrier to look at his feet as in the last pic he looks like he has collapsed heels in front.

I looked at the pics and thought "wow, lovely horse...then I noticed his front feet too, so would agree and suggest you ask about any recent farriery treatment. Looks like a good allrounder, shame about the rider looking down at the jump! How big/old is he? Best wishes for Saturday, and please post more pics :D

Thanks for all your replies and nice comments!

Yes he is the standardbred in the video I posted - I went to see him and he was such a sweetie that I just couldn't resist him as his (teenage) owner has just interest in him.
He is about 15 / 15.1hh, quite fine (compared to my current Welshie), 9yrs old. I would like to do a bit of everything with him, particularly hunter trials, but hopefully some SJ too. We need to work on our flatwork to start with to get him working from behind, and correct gaits (trying to avoid the 'pace') but I am really excited, as well as a bit nervous as he was a complete impulse (stroke sympathy stroke hungover) buy!
Thanks for the observations on the feet, I will get a farrier to look at him as I think he is due a trim anyway (I think they said he was last done in November which seems ages ago thinking about it?!). They said he does not need shoes, and generally his hooves looked in good condition, but I wouldn't know about collapsed heels - what does this mean and is it fix-able?
I will def get some more pics this weekend. :D

I'd look at some of the barefoot threads or possibly pm Oberon or cptrayes to take a look when youve got up to date pics of his feet - to give you an opinion on them. But generallu ive giund that sorting the diet and a good farrier can make a huge difference.

If he's sound then maybe just be a bit alert to any suggestions that he needs "remedial" shoeing. I've seen first-hand what proper hoof care can do to improve hooves like that, without a shoe in sight.
