Hi All,
Can I please have some knowledgeable eyes on my feeding regime as I want to get this right (Also about to put feed order in).
Pony is 4 in Oct. In lightwork, schooled twice weekly for 30mins (does sweat quite a lot), hacked twice weekly for 30mins.
Currently fed: 2 large scoops of oaten chaff, 2 of Lucerne, 1/2 a scoop of fibregenix balancer twice daily, equimins basic at night mixed with 1/4 scoop of soaked copra. 4 large slow feeder haynets /24 hr period he shares with the standy mare. They have a mix of oaten and meadow hay. They still eat these quite quickly.
This is him currently :20200319_064524_resized.jpg20200319_064517_resized.jpg

I can't feel or see ribs. The stock feeder also has wheaten hay, Lucerne hay and barley straw. We don't have any grass currently, hopefully it will start to come in a couple of weeks as we have had a bit of rain.
Thoughts welcome, don't want to end up with laminitis or ulcers :/

He likely doesn’t need any of that bar the equimins and a handful of chaff to mix it with, and the hay.

Ok. What type of hay, stay the mix of meadow (1/3rd) and oaten ? Will probably have to get another slow feeder net up for them. Thanks :)

It’s just hay that’s been wrapped in a bale from the fields. It’s not quite as bone dry as hay would be but you can make hay, haylage and silage off the same patch of grass if you were so inclined to. I’m sure you can get “types” of hay here if you know what you’re looking for.

Unsure. Here in the uk hay is hay ?
This made me laugh ? sometimes I think Australia does overcomplicate things. We’ve got oaten/meadow/Teff/lucerne/rye. Most are irrigated and planted crops. We even use sugarcane for stock feed up north.
