New dog not weeing

Our new dog arrived yesterday late afternoon. She is a non-speyed labrador bitch, approx 6-7 yrs old.

I can't believe how well she has settled in but....she hasn't done a wee yet. She didn't go yesterday in the garden or this morning. I took her for a walk down the lane this morning - nothing. I then took her into the woods locally where loads of dogs go for walks. I even followed other dogs and got her stop where they had wee'd but nothing. I can't let her off the lead yet in case she doesn't come back but I've tried using a lunge line - just in case she likes to wee in private.

She's done a pooh and is eating and drinking ok and seems very bright in herself - but I obviously don't know her normal personality.

How long should I leave it before I call the vet?

Are you sure she hasn't done one in the house somewhere? The only reason I say this is that I thought the exact same thing when I got my puppy... then I found a big wet patch under the dining room table

!

Has she drunk much?

She's not drinking a huge amount but I'm not worried that it's not enough. I've checked for wee in the house but have restricted her to the hall and kitchen which is hard flooring so I'd spot the puddle.

She did the pooh in the kitchen last night and was soooo apologetic about it this morning . I thought she must have done a wee too but no sign of a wet patch and no smell either.

This can be common in new arrivals, esp those a little more insecure, they could be used to doing their business in a specific area, and find it hard to do it anywhere else, but they do eventually, I have a staffi x that kept his in for 2 days, he still wont pass on walks, jsut in the garden

If she is ok in herself eating and drinking ok, and bright I would give her a few days, then maybe get her checked over, also she may not be used to people watching over her, so try letting her explore the garden and watch her from the window.

Thanks - have called the vet and he says the same as you CALA - prob just "new girl nerves"! Will try after dark in garden and will also try a late night walk around the block - just in case this was a routine for her.

Got a vet appointment booked for Tuesday anyway as a check over and to get her chipped. Hopefully she will have gone to the loo by then!!

Being a labrador I will rush her to the vet if she stops eating!!
