Hi, Just looking for peoples opinions. Looking to start up a livery/breaking/schooling/buying and selling yard in gloucestershire. At the moment deciding which area of the above to concentrate on. Curious as to whether people would be interested in a new yard opening offering a range of facilites including xc schooling, lessons, re schooling etc etc. Please consider the points below. 1.What in your opinion makes a first class yard?
2.What would make you bring your business to the yard?
3.What do you look for in a yard?
4.What would the main facilities you would require?
5.Which of the following livery types would suit you? d.i.y,part or full?
6.How much would you be willing to pay per week for each type of livery?
7.Any other ideas/points you have?

1.What in your opinion makes a first class yard?
> The staff. Honest, hard working staff that treat your horse as they would treat their own. not a succession of working pupils, consistent people who experince and training.

2.What would make you bring your business to the yard?
> Price, recommendation, word of mouth, facilities, proximity to other places.

3.What do you look for in a yard?
> YM who knows what they are talking about, who will manage the yard, horses and people professionally and competently.

4.What would the main facilities you would require?
> Decent sized school

5.Which of the following livery types would suit you? d.i.y,part or full?
> Part livery.

6.How much would you be willing to pay per week for each type of livery?
> So dependent on what is available. Full livery would depend on who/how my horse was being exercised. If its the YM who events professionally, then I'd pay £100+ a week. If it's the 2nd groom then I'd be paying less. It's too hard to say really on the others...

7.Any other ideas/points you have?
It's all about the people you get. Be fussy about who you accept on the yard and be fair to all.
