We went over to a new product called Equucel which is paper pellets a couple of month agoon our yard. We moved away from hemp as we have a stallion with COPD and strong urine and one horse with asthma and a couple of our helpers have hayfever and all were having a bad time with the hemp. All problems solved now but I was wondering if anyone else is using this and what they think of it?

We love it and so do our horses!!

I have thought about it but dont know if there is a supplier in South Devon .also cant seem to find a website for it ?

One of mine has to have a dust fee enviroment and although shavings hemp etc says dust free ...it is NOT .
Can you post detail sof your supplier please?

Hi MANDM, it is available nationwide but you have to buy direct from Equucel Europe. They're based in Essex, near us. We went to another yard yesterday that has moved over and they love it. It is new on the market only been available a couple of months but as it is paper it has no spores, so that is why I think it is great for our COPD and ashtma horses. The pellets are quite hard when you get it and you just lay it on the floor and thats it, they then break down to a nice warm fluffy bed over a few days, really soft and mikey our stallion east everything but not this. So easy to clean and no ammonia smell thank god, used to make me heave. The guys name is Martin Kaufman and you can contact him on 01277 633828, they have done quite a bit of work with carriage driving which is what we do so thats how we heard of it but they're going nationwide now. Their is a small amount of dust, but it is so heavy its only when you sweep and it settles within a few seconds, we were a bit dubious to start but Martin suggested it would be fine and touch wood it has. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

We moved to it a few months ago also, it took a while to get used to as its different and Grey in colour.
However we have found it to have proveen its worth time and a gain saving time and money and therefore worth the investment.

The guy we are dealing with a Mr Kaufman is going to be The Horse of the year show, i recommed that if there is one stand that you visit its this one.

JayneK - call me a cynic if you like, but you do seem very keen to post about this product. And then a second newbie turns up praising the product .......... hmmm.
Sorry if I've got ths wrong but this sort of circumstance does tend to look fishily like advertising.

The name is Jayne King, my god you lot are sceptical. Just came on here to praise a new product and see who is using and get all this flack, not on really is it!!

We bought 500 kgs and it cost us £250 delivered all in. It came in a 500kg bag which is fine for as we have the space. We asked for smaller bags but they don't have yet but will be coming we were told. Its lasting us 2-3 longer than the hemp we used to use.
