Was so looking forward to getting this rug and the darn thing doesn't fit!

Its her usual size, 6ft3, but its a bit too long in the body and a tiny tiny bit tight on her chest (if it wasn't too long I would have ignored the chest part).

I guess that means Fal's are going to be no good for her then? Bit of a shame as I had my eye on a heavyweight FAL turnout too.

Anyone else had any problems with fitting Fal's?

So, back to the original dilema of looking for an in-between lightweight and heavyweight turnout...

Thats what I'm thinking but its a bit of a pain as I got it mail order so will have to send back and wait for replacement and hope that I get the size right this time!

I think I'd like to try the Slumberdown Lightweigh T/O this time but I don't know what size to go for as the FAL 6ft3 was a tiny bit tight on her neck so the 6ft would be too small round the neck.

Although as the Slumberdown has a different cut, maybe that would fit better in the 6ft3?

I don't know?!

i have a heavy weight TO Slumberdown and its gorgeous, wish id not gone for the cheaper middle weight Masta and got another Slumberdown as the masta is to tight round the neck and the neck cover always slips, and blows up.
Blue is normally a 6ft and fits fine in her 6ft Slumberdown, so id say normal size.
Plus i always think its better to be to long than too short!
hope that helps!

Oh bums! What a let-down. I had heard that Fals come up bit, but then if it's tight in her chest a smaller size might not be a great idea. What a disappointment.

I have been coming to realise FALS might not be great for me either as I don't really like the front fastenings - they just have the slotty, surcingl-style fastenings at the front, which I don't like. Prefer the Horseware system with the trigger clips on to the ring. What fastenings does yours have at the front?

It's got the surcingle type things. Too be honest I don't mind that too much but it just does not fit her. And as it was £80 its too expensive to keep if its not right.

I think I'm going to try a Slumberdown instead (think these have adjustable straps). I've found one with 40g fill (same as Fal i'm sending back) for £39.60 so its alot cheaper too. Just hope it fits!!

Fal do two neck sizes or used too so maybe you could try the
6ft in the bigger neck size. Your horse must be big arround the chest as other rugs dont go near my boys chest but the Fal are quite generous on him. I found the new Weatherbeata Free style rugs quite generous but I know what you mean about mail order. It ends up expensive if you have to send them back.

I bought a Fal years ago and it was too tight across the chest of my WB at the time, however I got one of their chest extender bits which was much better. But now I have a TB type and on him, the chest bit makes it way too big but with it it is still slightly tight! Cant win. I think Fal's only fit some horses. Saying that I have one of their stable rugs which is brilliant, very deep fitting but still looks brand new!

Its odd because she's a little TB! Not big around the chest at all!

I think perhaps Fal's just aren't suitable for her.

And I agree with what you say re cost in sending back, it has cost me £15 to return the bloody thing by recorded delivery!
