What can anyone tell about this breed, good or bad.Temperment etc.I know all horses vary but a rough guide would be appreciated
Has anyone got one?
Im going to have a look at one on monday

Fantastic ponies

Very honest, have the odd cheeky streak like all ponies do. Hack really well and can go like stink when asked. Jump really nicely and can move very well on the flat too

I'm an absolutle convert to them despite being 5ft 11 - even a chunkier 13.3 takes up my leg and I don't look big at all

Love them, love them love them

Ditto Teapot.
Excellent ponies. Ridden by adults and children. Excellent allrounders. Easy to keep. Brilliant temperament. Love their work. Have 4.

I have one here he is.

Lovely nature really gentle and friendly loves being groomed super quiet to ride but does have a bit of a wild streak to him, in that he will not stable he jumps out - he is a really outdoor herd pony. He likes to be with other ponies living out. He is a very clever brave pony completely fearless. People think he is a pensioner he is so laid back and he is only six.

Not the fastest pony in the world until the jumps come out and then he speeds up a bit.

There are two types of NF - chunky and sporty - mine is chunky so he really takes up leg and is a very good doer - so I do worry about him getting lami.

Very trustworthy to ride - even sat my 6 month old godchild on him!

Lovely ponies but do have a bit of pony spirit in them.

The larger ones are super adults ponies I am an adult and 5.2ft and mine is 14h.

He is by applewitch touch of magic out of Yewtree Homeward and his name is lovelyhill Home Touch.

He has sired 82 foals before he was gelded at 3.5 years.

They are FANTASTIC!

I am riding my daughter's previous pony while I search for something for me - he is a 13.2hh chunky, adorable, quite cheeky little chap.

My daughter has a NFXTB and he is truly amazing, very calm, but can jump like a stag, amazing XC and does a lovely dressage test.

They are so versatile, brilliant for children to do a bit of everything on, but stocky enough to take an adult, but they dont seem to command the crazy prices of some Connies.

Highly recommended by me too! I don't know why they aren't more popular.

Had mine 7 years competed affiliated dressage, jumps for fun and been placed in RC ODE and HT, bombproof on the roads but as everyone else has said with a real pony character to also make him a fun horse. Tough as old boots too - still going strong at 18.

I'd definitely have another one - albeit full up 14 handers are like hens teeth!

fantastic cheeky characters! good all rounders and lovely ponies. my friend has two, one is 43 ( retired now) and the other a fit 24 and still riding as a 6 year old!!!!!! if i was buying i would definately look at this breed.
don't need much hard feed, survive on thin air! and good doers....with a touch of spirit.

I had one once... she must have been the "odd one out" because she was (and still is apparently) a total b****! Nappy, awkward, grumpy, opinionated little so-and-so. She's go out for a hack one day right as rain, then you wouldn't be able to get her through the front gate for at least a week. She knew every trick in the book, AND how to use them. I think a lot of it was related to how she had been brought up (very badly...) but there was no denying it was also in her nature.
BUT all the other Foresters I have known and met have been fantastic little things! All very cheeky but little bundles of character

We have a 13.2hh forest bred NF mare who has won £4,500 BSJA and jumped the biggest of tracks. She is a wonderful pony - fast, careful and scopey whilst being the kindest, easiest pony to look after. I'd have nothing else if this is what NF's are like!

We have 2, had another one which we sold because he and my daughter didn't get on. (I had no trouble with him at all, I would have loved to keep him, he got me riding again after 20 odd years). All the ones I've come across have all been lovely. Super kind and honest characters each and every one of them. I wouldn't want any other breed quite frankly, I'm totally converted to them.

Never had much to do with them until recently. I really like them

I have a NFxTB and used to ride a NF for a friend. I dont think i would ever want to have a different pony. Both are very intelligent and learn so quickly, have a lovely jump and bombproof. At the age of 4 my pony was taking out nervous horses because he was so calm! Both are also very fast but have brakes.
The only problem we both have is getting saddles to fit, my friend has had one made but as mine is still changing shape it wouldnt work out until he has stopped growing.

I think there are more biggers ones around now mine is full 14h and he has had 82 babies so perhaps they will all grow as big as him!

i have 2 who are 14.1 and 14hh

the first by Buckland Cruiser the second by Warren Playaway...

just sold a 2yr old by Furzey Lodge Benjamin, who was 13.3

i also have a 2yr old by Knightsway Billy Boy who is 13hh ATM
