Asking for a friend :)
What would you wear Inhand and ridden showing a purebred new forest? He's dark bay with no white :)
Also as he's young she's thinking of takin him in the novice ring is their any specific rules for novice showing? (Neither of us have done novice and I have a traditional)
Thanks in advance any help is grateful :D

You should wear tweed for any M&M classes, light trousers for the in hand class.

For the novice the pony may need to be in a snaffle rather than double or pelham otherwise turnout the same as your traditional, plain brown bridle, discrete numnah in a dark brown as he is bay, they can be trimmed up but not too much so mane shortened to show off the neck but not looking pulled or cut, tail can be thinned out at the top but should not look pulled just tidy enough to enhance the quarters and should not be too long, heels left natural, under the chin can be trimmed but not the whiskers, any tufts that stick out of ears can go.

have a look at pictures of the new forest show breed classes :) will give you an idea of how long the mane should be etc :) a lot of people take the feathers off now, jawline and ears tidied, whiskers must stay on :) tails trimmed to be tidy at the bottom :) always tweed light oloured jods, brown gloves and navy hat, pony pref in brown tack. inhand you should use light coloured trousers and shoes that are tidy but you can run in :)
novices are ponies who have never won an openb class, always in a snaffle :) good luck!!

There is a good site on facebook THE NORTHERN NEW FOREST PONY SUPPORTERS GROUP lots of photos from the shows ,and studs .

As he is bay with no white go light trousers for in hand.

for the ridden Snaffle plain bridle. Tweed jacket

lightly pulled mane and trimmed feathers, beard and ears. No clipping the whiskers.

Love showing my foresters - HAVE FUN !!!
