New Forest ?

Hello I have been searching for information on the brand mark my pony has on his side. It is a B inside a circle on his left side where his saddle would go. After extensively searching I've only ever found one post on here that talks of such a marking and states that it is the brand of the mock-beggar line of new forests. My pony's breed is unknown in his passport but a lot of people have said he looks like a new forest - he's a very good doer! Could probably live on air in all conditions! I was just wondering if anyone knew that this is definitely a new forest branding ? I've searched the mock beggar website to look for pictures but I can't find any with the same mark.
Thank you in advance for any information you can give me :)

My New Forest pony is branded with the letter B in a circle in the same place as yours. She is Forest bred out of a Mockbeggar mare and is also registered with the Mockbeggar prefix.

Thank you , that helps convince me that he is a new forest then , shame his passport holds no information. Perhaps it was a re-issue. He's a 13.2 palomino, the brand is the only thing that gives me any information on him so I am pleased I know a little about him

How old is he? Circle B is a forest bred pony as people have already said. I have a 4yo mare - Mockbeggar Oakstorm. I could look up on the breed society stud book on-line to try and find a name.

Thank you that would be great - his passport says 2002 so he should be around 14 but I'm not sure how accurate that is as the date is hand written in 🙁 However the first owner listed looks to have had him when he was about 2 so perhaps the date wasn't printed in and they've added it after

You can't register a palomino in the NF stud book, even if he was out of a registered mare and by a licensed stallion. That particular brand is registered to the forest commoner with the prefix Mockbeggar. I can send you his details, if you would like them please PM me.

Just checked the passport - it says 2003 sorry not 2002 - handwritten next to d.o.b the date of issue of the passport is 13/03/2005 which matches the first recorded owner

You CAN register a palomino nf. You just can't register a palomino stallion. Mares and geldings are fine.

If I were you I would go on the new forest fb page, someone should know who owns that brand, then you can contact them for more info on the pony.

I doubt the breeder would remember the pony now tbh. PM me and I'll try and give you the name(s) of someone/people who would be able to help you further.

There is one pony listed as a light chestnut by a stallion owned bred by one of the people I could get you in touch with.

There is also a possibility that your pony may not be a fully registered NF. Can you post a pic of the brand so we can be certain that it is the brand we are thinking about?

Thanks again everyone for the help and info -
I will try to get a better picture , I've zoomed in on one, it's not the best but you can just make out the mark.
I had a few difficulties posting the picture and embarrassingly cannot figure out how to PM yet , I'm not sure if it's because I'm using my phone, but I will try again on my laptop

The brand does not necessarily mean that your pony is a pure bred NF but it probably will mean that your pony at one time ran on the forest. Only the stallions that run on the forest have to be registered new forests the mares do not need to be. The brand is registered with a Mr R Bennett.
