New friend

I am very much a dog person but for the last week I have had a new friend to help me in the garden. He's not a stray (I don't think) although he doesn't belong to any of my near neighbours, but he is just the friendliest cat ever. I am confident he goes home every night and I'm not trying to encourage him to stay but he does seem quite keen on a drink of milk and comes to find me in the garden with a very persistent mieoux ! Is hhe a silver tabby?

I’ve never owned a cat, although I seem to have gained a feral, but I thought cats couldn’t drink milk any more?

Adults can't break down lactose so it can cause upset tum.

Oh thanks, you are right he is a Bengal, I've just looked up some pics and he has the lovely blue eyes. Please tell me if he shouldn't drink milk, he certainly enjoys it and is very adept at telling me what he wants but I'd hate to give him something that is not good for him! Just read PFs post so won't give him any milk! yes he is very handsome. I am very happy for him to spend time with us as we have loads of mice and rabbits but he does seem to want to hang around with me, must be my general magnetism!

A perfect excuse to get some cat milk (whiskers and other cat food brands make it, so it's easy to get hold of) to ply your new friend with. My cat is a *sod* for wanting to drink milk (normally from my cereal bowl while I'm trying to eat breakfast) he also likes cream and wensleydale cheese... so all the bad stuff.

I also think Bengal is a likely breed unless he has a very siamese type head, which might mean Ocicat. Don't think he/she is quite the right shape or coat type for a Mau but all three breeds have spotties of that colour.

You can put a drop of milk in water and give him that. He’ll enjoy it just the same x

I have to admit one of ours is cheese thief!

I'm sure as kids our cats had milk, never harmed them. ?

We give our cat lacto free milk occasionally. A lot cheaper than the cat specific versions.

We had a cat that the neighbours gave milk to, we had to ask them not to as it ran straight through him and made him quite ill!

He is a beautiful Bengal though, they are lovely cats, real characters and very chatty!
