Hi guys , first of all like to say a big hello to you all , first night 'n' all!!

Now gonna tell you my dilema and would be really gratefull for any advise you can offer.. here goes.... Just (about a mounth ago) bought a new horse and moved him to a yard i wasnt sure about but i was pretty desperate!! I pay £150 per week for full livery and treated terribly

!!! He was never asked to, and not just jumping him, i talking tacking him over 1.35 tracks!!!

I havent been jumping him myself , while trying to get him fit and working on his schooling! when i got back he thought i should be grateful and started to pester me (daily) to give him to him to ride(while obviously i still pay the bills!!) i know what my horse can do thats why i got him!!

Now i just wanna move asap, i hate going up there and my confidence in tatters!!! Im a grown women but find it really hard to cope up there!! thing is i have paid a month up front and dont know wether to cut my loses or stick it out till end of month. And also is it legal to start jumping a horse when no permission was given??

Sorry first post so long and hope at least a few of you finish it without getting TOO bored!! Many thanks xx

Cut your losses and move if you are that unhappy. Compared to what you'll spend on him over the next year a month's livery isn't worth being miserable. Look at other yards and make sure that you get it in writing what is and isn't included so that you can aviod this sort of situation happening again

Hi I would use these next weeks to find a yard where people are approachable. Find out facilities ,condition of their own ponies etc. In the mean time tell them at your yard that he must not be used while you are not there. Also hide your tack in your car. Find other people on the yard who also have their own horses. Talk to them ,tell them what happened and how you are not happy, then they may tell you if anything occurs when you are not there.

By the way welcome to the forum.

OMG! That's not on, to ride your horse without your say so,,
Cut your loss and look for some where else as soon as

Where are you! if you in my area I can give you names and numbers.

Hi!

Sounds like a good idea to look for another yard :-)

I don't think anyone can ride your horse without permission, but I'm not sure that I understand the situation right. If he was on 'full livery' that normally means they would exercise the horse for you. If the yard people were meant to train it for you perhaps they did not realise you did not wish for them to jump the horse?

Don't feel bad that he wants the ride - it's a complement to your horse... but if this guy can't cope with you saying no thanks then it sounds like it's time to move on :-)

have all ready found some where i am really keen about, another 20 minutes drive but i think it will be worth it in the long run! have told the guy dont wont him ridden but said that at the start any way so find myself popping up to check on him every five minutes, which is the reason i have full livery so i wouldnt have to!!

Live just outside bath so unfortunatly no where near surrey, and as i am the only full livery feel there is no one there i can turn to! Only person i got friendly with works there and have found out her loyalties certainly dont lie with me!!!

This new yard i found off the internet so even thats not word of mouth!! But it does look ok , can give their website for any one who can give me there opinion!!

thanks for all your help so far xxxx

Firstly hello and welcome!!

I think he is bang out of order, if it was my horse i would be on the first plane outta there.
To ride without your permission is one thing, but to jumping him over big tracks like that, is quite another.
i'd say see ya later.
Good luck with finding a nice yard, that will respect both you and your horse

Just so you are all straight, yes he on full livery and yes includes exercising. Had made it clear wanted nikki (head Groom) to school him or lunge him(she ex dressage) It was well known that i wanted to get him fit as want to be ready for hunt season!

This guy knew that i wasnt jumping him until we were ready and i probably needed to get confidence up as had time away for 13 yrs!!!

He was not there to be trained! And it was way he kept pressuring me, was like used car salesman!!! think should also make it clear that this guy does not compete at a top level and in my opinion not that talented!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe should find it compliment but i just cant. And you are all right need to get outta there and start enjoying my horse again! Thanks again!! xxx

If you had explicitly told them to lunge or for only one lady to school him then it is pretty outrageous to simply ignore what you told them like that. what an annoying man! hopefully the new yard will be better.

Hiya and welcome!

Have you thought about taking your tack home? I know that on full livery you want him to be worked, but for your peace of mind and maybe even your horses welfare why dont you give him the rest of the time you are at this yard off work so you know hes not being jumped.

I think I would if I were u..

Wether you leave immediately or not you must speak to the YO & tell him that his does not have your permission to jump your horse under any circumstances. When you tell him make sure you have someone with you to witness the conversation. It would not be prudent to consider any legal action should he jump your horse again, resorting to law seldom assists anyone except a solicitors bank balance. However if your horse ends up injured as a result of this idiots abuse of his position then having a witness to your saying no to jumping may give you some comeback should there be any vet bill etc.
