So the little guy has moved into his new herd. It’s a geldings only herd to try and cut down on the aggression. Also the mares just seem cause issues most of the time. I’m not sure about it as I kind of wanted the wee man getting used to mares so that if I move to another yard he won’t have issues like the black gelding has, he was kept in a geldings only field his entire life then came to us (he’s 27) and went from placid and not caring to a raging monster over the mares. The only one he wouldn’t challenge was my old boy skis as he tried it once and Kia leathered him, Kia was the boss in the herd. So we will see how things go.

So we have the three amigos at the moment and all seems to be going well.

Faran is growing like a weed I’ll have to get him a new rug as he’s outgrowing the one I got him in Nov.

Thank you he is slowly helping me heal from losing my Kia-pony.

He is very sweet. Herd dynamics are fascinating we at present have 4 ponies in two pairs a mare and gelding in each pair the old mare is the matriarch she is in the boss but is very laid back so unless they really step out of line she ignores what they do. If they really annoy her she will batter them. The evil gelding is in charge of any areas requiring food protection he will not give up his dinner for anything or anyone. The filly is fiesty and is challenging for the top spot but is very careful to pick her moments. The old guy is now pretty much the bottom of the heap. They are all very settled but it will be interesting when the foal arrives at the weekend (weather permitting) as she too likes to be top dog apparently think she will have her work cut out even though she ultimately will be the biggest in the field

He pushes it with the nipping, doesn’t do it to me anymore but he’s very mouthy with other horses

He’s the absolute spitting image of a kids pony I knew that got the nickname ‘thug’! Lots of character.
