Hi

I have just bought the gorgeous Bilbo (well he is on trial but he is such a super little chap I am definitely smitten). 15hh Irish cob 6 YO. Since he came about 4 weeks ago we first thought he had feather mite as he kept stamping his back foot (Vet came & gave dectomax), Vet also saw nasty thrush in all 4 feet and now the poor old sausage has lice.

In other ways he seems fine - decent poos, eats & drinks properly, enjoys work & vet found nothing else to worry about.

I was wondering if he might be a bit immune suppressed and though obviously I am treating the various issues, is there something I can do for him in the way of supplements to help his immune system?

Thank you :)

Does he have any mineral supplements? Copper and zinc deficiency can lead to problems with thrush, amongst other things, so that may be worth looking at.

Global herbs immuno something, but there products are good and do work

This stuff is brilliant!
My big mare came to me with awful immune system and for the 1st 6 months she seemed to catch everything going!!! She even reacted to fly bites with lumps the size of golfballs and they oozed puss!
We gave this every 3 months, for 1 month.....I think it was the only thing that saved her from not catching the strangles that hit the yard a year later! Haven't given it for the past couple of years and we have had no problem since!

Probably cheaper to blood and then treat whatever is lacking rather taking a guess and buying something possibly not needed or no use to the horse.

oh gawd AdorableAlice - that will be visit no 3 from Vet in not many more weeks hope it is not going to be a trend. What should I ask vet to check bloods for? Sorry to be an ignoramus.

Am also quite tickled at the thought of googling Global Herbs Immuno Something and coming up with 4 matches and buying them all just in case!!
