Mum's new horse Noah arrived at around lunchtime today after about a 5 hour journey. We put him into a separate paddock so that he could kiss Belle and the ponies over the fence but rest a bit before being out with them. We intended to leave him in there overnight but he broke the fence leaning on it because he wanted out! In the end we took the risk and put him out with the others and there was hardly any fuss at all! He looks like he's been there forever. :) Cookie the shetland is particularly in love with him. :D

So here are a few of the pics I took today. He is the Appaloosa (16hh, 6yr old).

Thanks for looking.

Thanks everyone! We have owned horses all my life (am 23) and my Mum has ridden since she was a child. However, this will be the first horse she has actually had for herself in more than 40 years. :) It means that we can finally go out hacking together too.

A few people think that Noah is ugly but I think he's handsome, he has a very noble and kind face and I love his colouring. He was such a good boy too, didn't make any fuss. Cookie the shettie couldn't leave him alone, they are currently grazing side by side as they already can't leave each other alone! Noah had his nose in Cookie's fluff and they were nuzzling and following each other around. I was expecting Belle to be really bitchy to him but we put him in the field with the others (after he broke the fence!) and she just looked and walked off! Looks very promising. :D

dibbin - as for the herd of minis... does two count as a herd?! Hehe. Cosmo and Cookie are cheeky little buggers but they are cute!

how old is he?

loving the piccies though - friends for life I reckon.

He is nearly 7. :)

Awww he looks so friendly.

Do you know that thought struck me to. They look like very happy horses and ponies, all confident with each other and their place in the pecking order. They look so kind and confident and the new horse seems to be the same kind of personality or horseonality!

Well done on creating a really calm and happy herd. The new horse looks like he has 'come home' and you should be very proud for creating such an ideal situation.

As for him being ugly, all horses are beautiful in their own right and your horse is no exception. If he has a good heart that is what matters, not what is on the surface and whilst he is not '100% my cup of tea' I think he has a very good heart and a kind eye, and that is what always attracts me to a horse x

What a lovely thing to say, thank you very much. :) We were told that he's usually bottom of the herd (Belle, the other horse, is most definitely boss!) but he was quite happy to nick the ponies' dinner straight off. :D I really thought Belle would chase him off to start with but she literally just looked at him like "oh, ok" and wandered off.

He is beautiful, I too may be a bit biased, as he has a look of my old girl (now sadly gone at the age of 33). The current Appy is more roan than spotted, but she does appear to be spotted on the inside! :D I'm sure your mum will have much fun with him, both of my girls were/are full of character and fun. Also both into everything and very good at picking things up with their teeth, the old girl used to try and pick me up by my plait! :D

A lovely horse!
Our first one was also very friendly. She was the resident and when we bought a second mare, we put them into adjoining paddocks. They stood next to each other all morning over the fence, so we decided to put them in together. They were inseparable for the next 20 years.
I hope you and your mum enjoy your hacking.
