New horse but poor girl!

New girl arrived 2 days ago!

She's absolutely stunning, and such a lovely nature.
She's about 28 so an old girl but still perfectly rideable, and i will hopefully get first ride on Sunday!

About 15hh.

Anyway, she was put in with our lot yesterday and there was the expected bit of arguments but nothing serious.

Today i went to put her headcollar on and noticed a bit of blood on her face. Couldn't see where it was coming from, lifted her forelock and she had a huge hole in her head!

It was horrible, you could see right down to her bone!!

Got vet out who sedated her (gosh her head was heavy to hold! lol), clipped it, cut bits off round it, cleaned it all up and stitched it.
Poor girl was starting to wake up, vet said "last stitch!" Then when she was checking the stiches, there was a "graze" just underneath the hole bit and when she pulled the sides, it turned out to be another hole! Not quite as deep but needed stitches.

So she's sporting lovely blue stitches right down her face and feeling a bit sorry for herself. She's been separated for now, and we gradually introduce her again.

Few pics

Owww, my friends horse got a huge hole in his head from running into a tree. They had to leave it open and flush fluid out of it every day, it was nasty!

Hope it heals OK

Poor girlie, maybe put a her out with a quiet 1 and then divide the field with electric fencing so they can introduce slowly.
I bet shes got a bad headache!

Isn't she just

she was very brave! Bless her

ouch! lol. It should be fine if she keeps the stitches in lol. She has two layers of stitches! dissolvable ones in the tissue layer, then the blue ones you can see.

Poor old thing, maybe introduce her a bit more gradually next time. In your first post you said you are hoping to ride her Sunday, surely not?
