My new horse is coming at half 3 tomorrow, didnt even know i was getting her ! went to see a friend today who breeds welsh cobs, just to have a look around, and say hello. Saw a chesnut mare, looked so sweet. has just been broken, had a go on her, came home. OH just told me he bought her for me ! well if the fortnight trial is ok, which it should be ! pointless post as dont have pics yet, but im so excited ! :D:D

OOh and do i need to get her vetted, someone had a stage 2 vetting? never had one vetted so this doesnt mean much to me, about a month ago ? do i need to have one, or a better one ? thank you !

Hi Hannah90 pleased for you is this your first owned horse that you are asking about vetting? If OH has already bought her then it may be a tad late depending on the basis for the 2 week trail - maybe you will be ok as it's a friend.

I would do at least a 2 stage vetting. I had a 5 stage on a recent purchase as I'd just had the heartache of my old boy having to be pts and wanted to be as sure as I could be that he was healthy. Even then he had problems of a sort that wouldn't show up in a vetting so the only sure thing is you are never sure.

Are you keeping her on a yard or at home, how old is she we need to know:) Good luck.

If someone had her vetted why did they not have her?
Depends on how much you know about horses, what you want to do with her and how much you are paying.
Good luck, a young horse will not be very established in her work so will need educating so maybe find a good instructor to help you.

thanks. she is only 4, so needs a bit of educating ! i have had horses for years, and bought them before, just never had them vetted. Silly i know, but have been lucky, seems like the sensible thing to do though !
we have not actually paid for her yet, will do at end of trial if im happy with her. The people that had her vetted before, brought her back after their trial as she was not big enough, not for a problem as such .
and shivvy, sorry about your boy xx i am keeping her at my own yard, with my mums ancient sec.A,her show pony and the kids riding pony.

Congrats.

Definitely get vetted. When I viewed my boy he was fit as a fiddle, little did I know he had bone spavin which would of showed on a vetting... Cue the hardest 18 months of my life resulting in losing him.

It's worth what you pay for and saves huge vet bills and heartache.

Good luck and we need pics ha :)
