I got my new loan horse 3 weeks ago, he was fine for the first 10 days and then he got all wheals on his neck and belly, I've got the vet out to him and hes got 10ml of dex which took the lumps down completly after hours but they kept coming back so he got two more injections of dex in the days following but they kept retuening so hes now in 7 tabs of clarityn a day (anti histemines) and it seems to be working ever so slightly, I cant find anything unusal in his field that he could have ate and my only explianeation is the grass were i live must be different to where he came from. Appart from the lumps he is in great form and not at all bothered, they are not sore or itchy and he seems happy out. Don't worry i have contacted and told his owners everything and they are happy to leave him with me and have consented to all treatment i have given him. I would have him carted home straight away only he doesnt seem bothered by there wheals at all (i think their wheals but feel free to correct me) it seems that they are purely cosmitic, however if they do start bothering him or get worse he will be going straight home. The lumps come and go very quickly often in a matter of hours. He is on no feed only grass at he moment to rule any other food causing it.
Has anyone had a horse with this before and can you offer me some advice please?
These are the lumps
12 hours later all gone !
His mood/ appetite is not at all affected
