Morning all,
I turned my new horse put yesterday in the paddock and whereas normally he is chilled and just eats, yesterday he had a hoolie In the snow. When I brought him in I noticed some blood on his near hind leg midway between his hock and fetlock. I found a small cut. So I cleaned it by gently syringing warm water onto it and then used purple spray on the area and left it. This morning there is a small amount if puffiness around the area and a little bit of warmth. Just after a bit 8f advice what to do next please.
Thanks in advance

As long as the cut is not near either joint - just carry on. Cold hose this morning (if your water isn't frozen) and possibly keep in today to be sure. If the cut is actually on either joint - or at the back of the leg where the tendon sheath is then I would call a vet to be safe. Even tiny cuts in the wrong place can be nasty. But from your post it sounds like you should be fine. I'd prefer a silver cream to purple spray - but both do the job!

Thanks Shay. It's nowhere near a joint thankfully, but on inside front bony area of her hind leg, between hock and fetlock. I'm going to pay the tackship a visit for some cream, will look at silver cream, as opposed to purple spray. Is swelling normal following a cut or knock?

It's called a speedicut by us old folk :) very common injury, done with the other foot while messing around or going fast, should be nothing to worry about. But you might like to use a brushing boot while riding until it heaIs. The swelling is normal.
