Hi I'm new to here but I'm hoping for some info regarding passports.
I have put a deposit down on a horse I went to look at this weekend and I'm due to pick him up next week, he's a 4 yr old cob and he's such a sweetheart! :)
The issue is that his passport came back after she had him gelded and microchipped as a 2 yr old blank without the information of his parents on it.. to me personally it doesn't matter but since then I've been wondering whether this could be an issue for any specific situations in the future?? I'm hoping it's not a big deal :-/

I don't think it matters TBH unless you are buying something specifically because of its breeding. My horse has an Irish Horse Board passport, he came from Ireland 2 years ago, is vaguely a Connemara with a bit of something else probably, and his passport just says "unknown" throughout. He didn't even have a proper name, I had to name him and send the passport off to register it. ATEOTD, you could pay a fortune for a well bred horse which ends up not doing the job you want, or breaks, and all that breeding is worth nothing. Equally, my little mongrel unregistered pony is doing a cracking job and I honestly think that if I ever needed to sell him, his temperament, soundness and competition record would be worth more than whether I know who his parents are.

Thanks :) I feel a sense of relief now. I was starting to worry that I had made a mistake lol. It makes no difference to me who his parents are and I just want to bring him home now! It's going to be a long week...
