Decided I could wait no longer for someone to hack with so took Micah out alone for our first ever hack.
We had to walk through a busy student packed farm yard with tractors and trailers everywhere, including one up our bum
He was obviously a little nervous just at so much going on at once but walked along like a star listening to me very intently. I talked to him the whole way through and was mega impressed with his attitude.
We got through the farm yard and out on to the fields and his little ears pricked up. Had a little shy at a scary tree stump but again was listening to me all the time.
We were having a lovely trot when a flock of birds suddenly flew up out of the long grass, he did a great impression of a cat on hot bricks, but as soon as feet were back on the ground walked on as good as gold (just keeping one eye on the grass)
Had a few more trots along the path with him being as good as gold, even coming back to walk just from my voice
One of the things I love most about him is he treats the aids from my weak leg just the same as my good one!!
He is such a good boy yet also very forward going which is exactly what I wanted. I can't wait until I have got myself back to riding fit(strong) I can see he is going to be an awesome fun mega safe hack
Incidently I have never known a horse who was so obviously nervous of most things yet rarely spook and even when he does its minimum. Beacon was the opposite not nervous at all but would spin and spook just cos he could
Needless to say I am over the moon
