Ok
Aftr scouring some donkeys here in scotland I am viewing a boy in Wales on Thursday - 5.5 hour drive eeak..
However he does seem to fit what I need - 14.2-15.2 sane enough for daughter to come on with but green enough for me to work away on and do local dressage xc riding club events etc....
Anyway have a peek at this boy and honest opinions please - I know he is no world beater but this is just for a couple of years to see how daughter goes and then i may get something to event for myself.

there are about 9 small video clips of him and I think he is a likable chap - quiet and mannered.

She is realistic with his price not like the 4K thay appear to ask for similar round here!

Only prob is transport - how much does it cost for transporting horses - I had heard a £1 per mile and that will include a round trip of around £700!!!!!!!!!!!! more eeak's

He is a little short and thick through his neck, his stride is a little bit ponyish... He is only been broken since February so although 5 is a real baby , they havent done much schooling mainly hacking him out and he is very good out and about etc.

Anyone else think otherwise... :grin

Good luck with the viewing & don't forget to let us know how it goes will you ?

Thanks all, really excited about him. Daughter is hyper - just wish it was Thursday already. Not really looking forward to drive.... hey ho. as said nothing found up this end of the world.

Not taking daughter out of school to see him - she aint happy bunny! But ll know if he will be suitable for her.

WIll keep you all posted x

He looks a really nice genuine sort - prettily marked too. If you are interested, make sure you ask the sellers about transporters - they are likely to know of someone. Good luck - hope he is what you are looking for, but naughty mummy for not letting your daughter go too

Naughty mummy is letting her off school for two days next week to go to Bramham.... annual trip down with daughter my mum and i - not such a long haul and lovely event to visit - we go from the Thursday first thing till Saturday late evening....... Though better not take her out too much from high school.......

She is cool with not comming:)

TBH she is soo excited at getting a horse that a donkey would be enough for her.....

I think he looks like a really nice sort. If it were me I would take my daughter for the reasons others have already stated. Its only 1 day out of school and she maybe good company for the journey. ( or not

Equally if he proves to be unsuitable at the viewing she will be distraught if she's had the chance to meet him and then mum says no.

-whispers- If I bought any daughter of mine a pony and she said she hated it the pony would be sold like a shot and she'd never have the opportunity again.

He looks like a lovely sort especially considering how young and newly backed he is, I am sure he will mature into a right corking pony.

and all the videos are a good idea!

This area is so expensive, you're lucky you can travel to see horses. I live in the same area as you and it took 10 months to find anything suitable on my budget. And the horse i ended up with was over budget anyway!

Good luck for Thursday, hope he's perfect!

I know Scotland is very lacking at the moment horse wise - or they are seriously over priced.
I dread it when I am going to be in a position to get a nice event type in a year hopefully - prob another trip south!!!

Is that your boy - he looks fabby

scottish miss, i'm only half an hours drive from anglesey so i cant see it costing much more for a shared load, i can pm you the company i had the quote from.

I would NOT reccomend doing it yourself, 14 hours driving with a trailer i not physically possible if you want to remain safe. and 7 hours in a trailer is not good for the horse, the company i had a quote from was going to stop overnight at a set of stables for my pony to have a rest
