New horse/ youngster advice

I cant really see a lot, but it looks to me like hes got the varnish gene which means over time he will gradually white out, apart from bony areas like his knees and cheekbones etc. He may or may not get black spots on the white bits.

I'd also like to add that my appy cross had an amazing temperament and its something you hear time and again about appaloosa and appaloosa crosses :)

Looks like he will jump with that conformation!!! Looks like a little spring!!!!

Quite upright in front and out at the hock- not what I would call show quality but I definitely like him!!! Looks like a good fun little allrounder :)

If you do buy him, keep us updated with progress :)

That's good :) currently do a little jump and showing with my cob. Just wanted some advice before we pick him up. He has the mostly lovely character he's very sweet! :)

Ok thats great thanks guys. Wasnt sure about markings etc I'm a bit of a novice when it come to confirmation :) never owned an appy or even been around one before looking forward to it!
:D

Its not a bad thing! Its actually pretty cool watching them change! I sold my boy but get a lot of updates via Facebook and I love seeing the changes in him :)

If you want to know what breed he is - look at his pedigree. ;)

Other breeds also have the LP (spotty) gene too eg Knabstruppers, British Spotted Ponies, so being a spotty horse doesn't make them automatically a pure bred Appoloosa. He could be a part bred of any of the breeds mentioned, crossed with almost anything.

However, he is a smart chap and I really like him. If you are worried about general health issues, get a Vet to look at him before you buy.

I hope you have many years of fun together. :)

That's a good point! Duh! Not had a chance to look over his passport but I will and find out. He came from down south with a couple of other youngsters his owner was elderly and couldn't take anymore work on. He does a really funny thing with his bottom lip, he kind of rubs it on you and is like a baby and wants to put everything in his mouth ha ha :)

My daughter has just bought an Appaloosa x NF youngster and I can vouch that he is very friendly and chilled. Took him to his first show when he had just turned two and took it all in his stride. Nothing seems to faze him.
