just bought new horsey, 17.1 (ish).

put him in one of my other horses rugs a 6ft9 bucas sunshower turnout, but its a bit tight in the chest, but length wise its ok.

So when I buy him a new wardrobe, should I stick with the 6ft9 ones, or go for 7ft???

Both my boys are wide at the front and the Amigos and the Premier Equine ranges seem to fit them well. Kingshead always used to fit too but its a long time since I bought one so they may have changed recently.

If the length is right stick with that but see if you can find a rug with more length between the chest straps and the wither. I resorted to a tape measure in the end! If you get really stuck, Fal do a made to measure service.

Mt 17.1hh is in either 6'9" or 7ft so I guess thats not much help!
The 7fters give him a little more space round the bum etc but they both seem to fit well.

How well muscled is he? If lacking in muscle I would go for the 7' as he will put on muscle the 6'9" ones may get far too tight

Premier Equine are fantastic as they are nice and deep and long. Both my two have a huge shoulder and the only rugs that fit them are the PE ones and Mark Todd ones. Make sure you buy rugs with shoulder gussets aswell.

Mine is slim hunter type TB at 17 hands he takes 6'9 rambo rugs and they are abit roomy (winter rugs are bit big which is good cos i can put extra rugs underneath), he got big shoulders so any smaller would be too tight around there.
