New HOYS amateur class-anyone know the rules yet?

I have recently seen on the BSJA website that the summer qualifiers are now up. That includes the new amateur qualifiers and I know its 1.20m but I dont know what rules they're putting on it? grade of horse, ranking of rider etc? oh and how many qualify? anyone know? for those of you who havent seen it heres the dates and venues for qualifiers:

Ingliston 20th April
Keysoe 17th May
Port Royal 25th May
Dorset Show 8th June
Hand 21st June
Scope Promo 8th July
Weston Lawns 19th July
Pyecombe 2nd August
 
top 150 of list 308 will be excluded.
You can jump in all qualifiers as they are direct qualifiers, no second rounds needed. 1st 3 from each qualifier will qualify.
1.20m 1st round in qualifier. Final at HOYS will be 1.25m (this bit still to be confirmed)

im assuming so which i disagree with really.

i think for a true amateur class it should be grade c horses.

No it shouldn't. Grade C horses already have the 7 YO, Newcomers and Foxhunter finals - how many do they need?

I am a true amateur, I've never been placed in a class over 1.15 but my horse is a Grade B nearly Grade A, won a lot in her youth but now jumps smaller classes with me. Do you think I shouldn't be allowed in it with a Horse whos limit now is 1.25?

Or my sister, she probably has one of the best 1.20/small open horses in the country, he's won about £4k, but never in anything over 1.20 as she isn't brave enough to jump bigger, do you think she shouldn't be allowed to enter?

This gives older horses - who aren't worldbeaters a class to aim for.
 


i think that what ever rules they set for it in the end - genuine amateurs will still not get a look in.
i understand completly what you are saying - i had a grade a that only jumped 1.20s too - but i feel that you will always get your slightly richer amateurs on more than capable grade As entering for their shot at hoys - and that takes the fun out of it for true amateurs such as myself.
 
And the other arguement against Grade C horses is that everyone is always moaning about how their young horses are being pushed in jump offs etc. This class is going to be very fast. If you bought a ticket or turned your TV on to watch HOYS and knew nothing about SJing what class would you rather watch, Grade Cs or Grade As?
