Right, so I am determined to do a full, proper season, out at least once a week. Therefore I am going to treat myself to a decent wool jacket to keep out the cold. I really fancy a very dark green wool (pretty sure it wouldn't be toooo frowned on) and obv a waistcoat to go with - any ideas where to go for this?

I have a black Mears Pytchley wool hunting jacket, and I absolutely love it! It keeps you lovely and warm on those cold hunting days, I'm not sure whether they do it in dark green though. I also have a really nice red waistcoat from Mears.

Green? Apart from Harrier hunt staff or button holders etc, it should really be black or navy. Although I,m sure you'd look very nice in a green coat...

I know, and usually I am an absoute stalwart when it comes to regulation, but I want a really dark, deep green, almost indiscernible from black - I know I will end up with black tho LOL!

Isn't there a local little shop that supplies your local hunt folk?? or why have a look around blenhiem next weekend??- I know Mears is good make but never seen very dark green, i'll go home and find out what make mine is, cos brought in little local shop and he was supplied by very large place down near salisbury/stonehenge wayish, then had correct fitting back with amends back in little local shop

Yeah thought I would have a good look around Blenheim and see what I can come up with - there isn't really anywhere around here that does what I am after, unless I just do not know of the existance of the place LOL! Are you coming to Blenheim?

nar i'm at rc champs    doing rural riders and pairs - but i'll still have a look at my jacket tonite and send you name you never know they may be on www

Don't know if they till do them, I suspect they do, but Harrods have a fab range. When I started on Bertha my mum gave me all of her waistcoats and a really fab thick black hunting jacket from there which is very nice and snug for the cold days. Would really go with black though.

Well I think it is deffo Alexander James after all of the recommendations! I hoped they may be at Blenheim...but they are not :(

BTB I will be hunting with the OBH but might well do a couple of days with you maniacs at the VWH!

Keep out the cold? I wear a thin Pikeur jacket because I get so hot from galloping and wrestling with Ernie...very rarely too cold - and we're in Wales!

Re. coat, good luck..we want pics!

Hope you get out once a week Weezy, just had our cubbing list out so after Wed (back lady is out to Ernie) from Saturday on it should be Tally ho for us! Ahhh early mornings and stubble fields..how I miss the stubble fields!

My Pikeurs are all too SJ to hunt in, I would feel embarrassed :o And the jacket that has always been my old faithful is just too shoddy now. I hunt on weekdays so there is quite a bit of standing about, and we are not known for being real thrusters - add to that the fact that I do feel the cold and I want something a little more substantial and smart :D

Not had my cubbing list yet - horse is fit as a fiddle and ready to go tho, was out jumping the bales today and had a fab time!

i'm sooo gutted - was going hunting with farmers bloodhounds tomorrow but now i've hurt my back and can't go - poor horse has no fun anymore!

Argh noooooooooooo bad luck :( I didn't know there was a bloodhound pack around us, mind I am very clueless LOL!

Awww bless P! I bet she'll love hunting - has she been before?

Oh god weekdays are always the best down here, go with the huntsman so no hanging around! Very different in them there Welsh hills LOL

Have you found a company yet? OH will know of one if you want the info? Daren't ask him now as he's a little 'merry' to say the least!! Men.... :smirk:

Yep she has been before and when I went to view her I spoke to the guy that had taken her out, who said she was the most mannerly horse he had ever hunted and that she absolutely shone, so I am very much looking forward to the season!!! I know on fun rides she is absolutely blinding, follows the lead, doesn't pull, stops with everyone else, jumps anything, so fingers Xed we will have a ball.

Going to look at coats at Blenheim and if I don't see what I am after there I will order from Alexander James at HOYS.
