My horse showed slight lameness in what looks like his near hind on Wednesday during a light, casual ride in a school. Stopped riding, cold water bath. Box rested couple of days. All ok until today. Displaying very slight lameness in field. Messaged vet to advise. My question, is the timeline ok to claim for insurance investigations if necessary. I didn't advise on Monday as really felt it unecessary but today I feel there may be an underlying problem. Approx two years ago he sustained an open flesh wound injury to this leg, treated and healed. No issues, no lameness from final vet inspection until this week, two years later. Could this be deemed an existing condition? Need my mind put on the right path as insurance office closed until Monday. He certainly wasn't lame enough today to warrant a vet visit but want to nip anything in the bud. Please advise if you can, please.

If there is no exclusion on the leg then there's no reason I can see why this is a related issue after two years, or how the insurer would succeed in claiming that.

The timing of the reporting, before treatment, is fine.

I hope it's just a minor tweak that disappears on its own.
