Official Joint Press Release from AES and NED

Performance sport horse studbook AES (Anglo European Studbook) is presently investing in an update of its computer system which will improve its data provision to the recently-launched National Equine Database (NED).

"NED’s release to the public has highlighted some of the missing links in the data provided by the 100 or so data providing organizations”, says NED Chief Executive Nick Wallbridge “it has been a mammoth task to combine this information and make links between passport and performance records so that, when users visit NED, they can be happy with the information they find on their horses.”

AES Chief Executive Henk Minderman said “we have become aware of gaps in our data, partly because we are working from an old DOS system, and since NED went live we have received notification from people with AES passports that their data is not always perfect. We are significantly investing in a complete upgrade of our computer system so that we can be certain of improvements”. Added Henk, “the AES is fully supportive of NED and our society’s aim has always been to improve competition horses in the UK. By working with NED to improve the AES data we can do this."

Nick Wallbridge concluded “we have been in discussion with AES about the things they can do to improve their systems so that their busy team can quickly and easily extract data for NED to the benefit of the whole equine industry and it’s very pleasing that they are working towards this”.
